December 2017 Recap
On December 14th, Consuelo, Bill, Nancy, Pat, and Katy dispersed loans of $950 using our Kiva credit and gift cards. We made loans to 18 people in Cambodia, Philippines, Palestine, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Pakistan, Guatemala, El Salvador, the United States, Uganda, Peru, and Bolivia. The loans were for education, water filters, toilets, food production and sales, repair shops, farm animals and supplies, and sewing supplies.
In November, we discussed with Chuck Sparks the fact that we now have enough money coming to us in our loan paybacks that we no longer need new funds from the members of the Wellshire community. We asked Chuck to direct those dollars back to the Global Missions Committee and specifically the two medical clinics that Wellshire is helping build in Zimbabwe.
In 2017, the Kiva Microfinance Committee made 151 loans of $7529. The general Wellshire Kiva group made $18,575 in loans in 2017.
In 2018, Katy will turn over the chairmanship of the Microfinance committee to Curtis Roe. It continues to be a pleasure to serve on this committee.
